Some are speculating that it is a slight posibility that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may be ousted in the 2010 midterm elections, re-living the demise of Majority Leader Tom Daschle in 2004.
Though many think he will pull off a win in 2010, the question is still arising, Who would be a possible successor?
A Republican majority is not even slightly possible in 2010, so two Democratic members come to mind to take the front seat if Reid is booted.
Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Two big-shot Senators from big-time states are in perfect position for the competition of the year. The Majority Leader of the Senate.
No clear cut winner could be chosen between the two, with both being more aggresively liberal, partisan figures, who many attribute with the 60-member fillibuster-proof majority the dems picked up in January.
Though insiders say that neither men are personally gunning for Reid’s seat, there is no doubt that a showdown will be sparked by a Reid unseating in 2010.
